Resetting a Lost Root Password

So, you forgot your root password and would like to gain access to your system again. Don’t worry, all is not lost. You can use the SuSE Linux install cd to boot the ‘Rescue System’, reset the password and create a new one. Special thanks to Broch, whom originally posted this information on the SuSE Linux Forums. I decided his orignal post was nice for the Linux proficient, but a bit of a trial for newbies. I believe that anyone asking a newbie to use vi is a saddistic bastard. So without further adieu, here is Broch’s post, vi free and newbie friendly. (more…)

Amarok 1.4 has Great Ipod Support

amark1-4Are you using Linux, but still going back to windows to put songs on your iPod? Well, you don’t have to use that infernal iTunes anymore! Happy Birthday to Me!

So it is February 5th AGAIN and I am now 25 years old. Wow, a quarter century. I gotta say, after 21, birthdays are not nearly as exciting. I think I might just stay 25 for a few years. If no one does the math next year, I should be in the clear.

I’d like to point out that I am still a student and every little bit helps. So if anyone wants to make my day, please use my donate link to send me a few birthday bucks or happy birthday wishes. That monsterous student loan I have isn’t going to payoff itself.

New Dual Monitor Wallpaper Gallery

As I look through the statistics for my site, I have noticed that ‘Dual Monitor Wallpaper’ has been the most popular search query every month. Previously, I had thrown together a very simple script on SpinInk.com to handle these images for me. This worked fine for a while, but I wanted to find a better way to present these images eventually.

Today, I finally took a few minutes to take all of those images and add them to a specially configured album in my gallery. This should make the images much easier to browse and download for everyone. I thank all of you that have sent me email regarding these images. It is the support of all of you that keeps me motivated to create these dual screen backgrounds. I will add more images to this album soon. Enjoy.
